Since its establishment in 1996, the SPH curriculum has emphasized a mastery of traditional public health disciplines balanced with new approaches to improving health outcomes in diverse communities. Drexel’s Master of Public Health degree program prepares students as public health researchers, planners and practitioners, as well as for entry into doctoral programs.

Drexel SPH has successfully used an innovative Problem Based Learning (PBL) curriculum since its inception in 1996. In subsequent years, we have continually refined our PBL curriculum by integrating traditional lectures and lab exercises, while updating and adding cases to address emerging public health issues. By using PBL with other effective instructional methods, we foster students’ ability to understand and address complex public health issues. Drexel MPH students acquire a mastery of core public health topics, while developing critical thinking skills, an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving, and a commitment to self-directed, lifelong learning.
