In September 2008, Amy H. Auchincloss joined the faculty at Drexel University School of Public Health as Assistant Professor within Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Dr. Auchincloss received a M.P.H. from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in epidemiology from University of Michigan. Dr. Auchincloss’ work focuses on social and environmental determinants of chronic health conditions. Her work has examined spatial risk factors within residential environments that influence health behaviors related to obesity and type 2 diabetes; the application of novel complex systems modeling that can be used to examine spatial and socio-economic patterning of health behaviors/outcomes; air pollution epidemiology including the contribution of atmospheric conditions (temperature and barometric pressure) and vehicular traffic to air pollution in relation to cardiovascular-related endpoints.

Research Interests: Environmental determinants of health; the contribution of resources in residential environments to health disparities by income and race/ethnicity, and to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, diet and physical activity; health effects of air pollution; the use of spatial analysis methods and agent-based models.
