Prof. Lum currently holds his primary appointment in the Department of Health Management and Policy within the School of Public Health where he teaches courses in health management and policy. He has been affiliated with projects in the areas of continuous quality improvement, strategic planning and alliance for organizations focusing on reducing Asian health disparities. He serves of several regional organizations’ advisory and steering committees. His areas of expertise and interests are in e-health, innovation integration and organizational dynamics. Also, Ray serves as the School of Public Health’s Director of E-Learning where he directs the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Certificate Program. Previously, he held an appointment in the College of Nursing and Health Professions where he taught and developed web-based courses in areas of management, computers and statistics.
Over the past years, Ray has annually been a Grand Judge for the Delaware Valley Science Fair. These fairs promote the sciences for grades 6-12. In addition, Ray has worked with a non-profit group in regards to technology transfer start-ups. Prior to Ray’s academic appointment, he worked in the private sector for fifteen years in areas of engineering, management consulting and litigation. Ray is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and holds a Master's of Philosophy and a Master's of Science in Organizational Dynamics. He received his Bachelor's of Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering.
Research Interests: Asian health; organizational learning theory; change management; systems thinking; innovation diffusion; technology transition; e-health.
