Special Projects Associate, Academy of Cognitive Therapy

The Academy of Cognitive Therapy (ACT) is a non-profit mental health organization founded by leading experts in the field of cognitive therapy. ACT is dedicated to serving those afflicted with mental health disorders by providing referrals and educational resources about cognitive therapy to the general public and certifying clinicians who are qualified and effective cognitive therapists.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

ACT is seeking a graduate student to fill the Special Projects Associate intern position. The Special Projects Associate will work closely with the Executive Director to support national and international expansion by coordinating and leading special projects, developing new collaborations and enhancing projects designed to improve the public’s access to information about cognitive therapy and mental health. Specific responsibilities include coordinating the membership renewal process, monitoring ACT member listserv activity, recommending and making informational and design changes to ACT website, maintaining membership databases, coordinating special events and conferences, providing referrals to the community, and performing related duties as necessary.

The Special Projects Associate will have opportunities to meet and interact with leaders in the field of Cognitive Therapy, including the Founder of Cognitive Therapy, Dr. Aaron T. Beck, and his daughter Dr. Judith S. Beck, Director of the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must be graduate students AND current residents of Pennsylvania. Ideal candidates will be high-energy and self-starting individuals, skilled communicators, and committed to improving mental and behavioral health outcomes. The position requires competency in word processing, database management, internet research and email; website management skills helpful.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

The Special Projects Associate is a graduate-level internship position funded through the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) Off-Campus Community Service Program. The internship runs through August 16th, 2008 and provides a stipend of up to $4000. The internship may be extended throughout the school year.
