Prof. Lum is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a Master's of Philosophy and a Master's of Science in Organizational Dynamics. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering. He has taught at the College and University level since 1992 and has extensive private sector experience in management and computers. He is currently appointed to the Department of Health Policy and Management within the School of Public Health where he teaches several courses in health management and policy. He has been affiliated with projects in the areas of continuous quality improvement, risk management, batterer intervention, HIV training and outcome assessments of federally and state funded programs. His areas of expertise and interests are in e-health, innovations and technology transfer, and organizational dynamics. Prof. Lum holds an appointment in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. He also teaches in areas of management, computers and statistics. Prof. Lum has developed numerous web-based courses such as Leadership and Management, Management Applications of Computers, Computers in Healthcare, Organizational Behavior, Introduction to Management, and Statistics.

Over the past years, Prof. Lum has annually been a Grand Judge for the Intel Science Fair as well as the Delaware Valley Science Fair. These fairs promote the sciences for grades 6-12. In addition, Prof. Lum has worked with a non-profit group in regards to technology transfer start-ups. Prior to Prof. Lum's academic appointment, he worked in the private sector for fifteen years in areas of engineering, management consulting and litigation. He recently traveled to developing countries in the Baltic Region, Central Europe and the Far East to investigate the impact of innovations in developing countries.

Research Interests: Asian health; organizational learning theory; change management; systems thinking; innovation diffusion; technology transition; e-health.
