Partial Student Registration Scholarships

About:  The Center for Hunger-Free Communities is hosting a national conference on poverty hunger, Beyond Hunger: Real People, Real Solutions.  All Drexel University students interested in attending the conference are eligible to apply for a scholarship. The scholarship reduces the conference cost by the student from $399 to $50.  The reduced cost of $50 will cover all registration, materials, meals, workshops, and conference special events for all three days of the conference.

How to Apply: Please fill out the following information and complete one of the following scholarship essays. Essay maximum word limit is 1000 words.  Submit by March 27, 2012 to pjw42@drexel.edu.  For more information, please email Patrick Wiggins at pjw42@drexel.edu.

Application Process: Once the scholarship application is submitted, the application and essays will be reviewed for selection.  Those awarded will be provided a special registration site to register with their scholarship discount. All Drexel University Students are eligible to apply.  If you are not selected for the scholarship, you may opt to be a volunteer at the conference.

Overview: In order to reignite a national dialogue on hunger and poverty in America, the Center for Hunger-Free Communities will host its first annual national conference on hunger and poverty, Beyond Hunger: Real People, Real Solutions.  Conference participants will consist of researchers, anti-hunger advocates, government representatives, government officials, public health experts, philanthropists, members of the media, and most importantly, those who have experienced hunger and poverty first-hand.  The Conference will be May 2-4, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel, 237 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
