The mission of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) is to teach, carry out research, and interact with a variety of constituents in sharing and creating knowledge that, through an understanding of environmental and occupational health, positively effects the health of the public.

Environmental issues include teaching and studying in areas such as air, food, water and environmental contaminants. Occupational issues are related to injuries, occupational cancers, occupational lung disease and worker health.
The faculty have varied backgrounds and include industrial hygiene, medical, epidemiologic and engineering experience, and compliment each other with interdisciplinary activities with regard to both teaching and research.
The educational program has a variety of course offerings with such diverse topics as preparedness, vulnerable populations, food safety and healthy homes. Students are prepared for many different career paths after completing their MPH program.
