Nathalie A. Bartle, Ed.D., received her doctorate in Developmental Psychology from Harvard University. She has extensive experience in the fields of maternal and child health, adolescent health and community health. In her faculty role at the University of Texas Medical School's Department of School Health and Community Pediatrics where she designed and implemented a curriculum on community consultation for primary care residents and medical students.
She also taught medical students and residents how to evaluate learning and behavioral problems of children and adolescents. While serving as a senior research associate at Harvard's Health Policy, Research and Education Division, Dr. Bartle expanded her research in the areas of child and adolescent health, adolescent sexuality and health policy. Her book, Venus in Blue Jeans: Why Mothers and Daughters Need to Talk About Sex (1998), has received national and international attention and has been published in English, Spanish and Greek. She recently directed the local evaluation of a federally funded program to reduce infant mortality based in the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. In addition to her administrative and teaching responsibilities in the Center for Community Health and Prevention, Dr. Bartle has continued her research in adolescent health and sexuality and assumed a key role in developing and evaluating community-based learning programs for the School.
