Peter DeCarlo
Dr. DeCarlo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at Drexel University. He holds a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame, and a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Colorado, where he was an EPA-STAR graduate fellowship recipient. Dr. DeCarlo spent 2 years in Switzerland at the Paul Scherrer Institute as a NSF-sponsored postdoctoral fellow. He has published over 50 papers and was awarded the Sheldon K. Friedlander award for an outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in Aerosol Science. His research interests lie in size and chemical characterization of ambient particulate matter, online, and with high-time resolution, both in the laboratory and in large field studies. The ability to measure these properties of particulate matter, allows for a better understanding of the effects of particulate matter on ambient air quality, health, and climate.
