"The Healthy Brain Study: Formative Community Research to Address Disparities in Brain Health"

Sarah B. Laditka, PhD
Sarah B. Laditka, PhD, is a gerontologist and health services researcher. Her research emphasizes health behaviors and the promotion of cognitive health, formal and informal long-term care, public health preparedness for older populations, access and care for people in vulnerable groups, and health disparities. She has published more than100 peer-reviewed research studies, and has mentored students as coauthors on more than half of those publications. Dr. Laditka is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. Dr. Laditka is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences and a member of the Program Faculty of the Health Services Research PhD Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. Laditka has substantial professional practice experience in both public health and the personal health care system. She has supervised numerous program evaluations for public health agencies, schools of medicine, and health care organizations. Dr. Laditka worked with the South Carolina state health department to address health disparities in maternal and child health, and participated in federal and state public health policy development. She has also worked as a Manager of Health Care Programs at GE Aircraft Electronics Division. Dr. Laditka received a B.A. from Colgate University, an M.B.A. (Finance) from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, and an M.A. (Economics) and a Ph.D. (Public Administration) from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.
