Vision for Academic Affairs at Drexel University School of Public Health

 

Dr. Patrick A. Rivers is a Professor in the School of Allied Health in
the College of Applied Sciences & Arts and a Professor (Joint) of
Management in the College of Business at Southern Illinois University
Carbondale. He served 7 years as the program director/Chair of
the Health Care Management Program. Prior to moving to Southern
Illinois University, he was on the faculty of the W. P. Carey School of
Business at Arizona State University in Tempe and The University of
Arizona Mel and Enid Arizona College of Public Health in Tucson,
AZ. He received his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in
Finance, Investment and Banking from the University of Wisconsin-
Madison and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health Services and
Strategic Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham
School of Health Professions and School of Business (Graduate
School of Management). Before that, he was an Agency for Health
Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) Postdoctoral Fellow in the
UCLA Department of Health Services in the School of Public
Health in Los Angeles, California and RAND Corporation in Santa
Monica, California. He is also a graduate of Harvard University Institute
of Management Development Program. Over the course of his
academic career, he has taught a variety of courses at both the graduate
and undergraduate level in health care financial management,
health care strategic management, overview of the U.S. health care
system, health Care organizations health care organizational structure
and policy, and health care marketing. He has chaired and served on
several master’s theses and dissertation committees.
