Lakshmi Durga, MPH, from the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) in Andrha Pradesh will discuss maternal and child health and nutrition education programs in India. Ms. Durga is part of a team from SERP working with 11 million women to provide loans, financial literacy, health education, legal assistance and nutrition assistance. Ms. Durga developed the “community health activists” piece for SERP and their nutrition programs. These activists teach basic nutrition, child development, breastfeeding, domestic violence prevention and more.
