The purpose of the Student Government Organization (SGO) at the School of Public Health is to: 

  • promote and represent the rights, concerns and interests of students in matters involving student-faculty and student-administration relations;
  • regulate the aspects of student activities delegated to the SGO by the faculty and administration; 
  • develop and promote interest and pride in the School and uphold the School’s academic standards;
  • act as a channel of communication among the faculty, students and administration; 
  • support aspects of cooperation by promoting intellectual, professional and social development; 
  • promote matters that may aid in the planning, supervising and coordination of students activities in accordance with school regulations.

This governmental group works in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs to address all aspects of student life in the School. The SGO is comprised of students representing the part-time, full-time, and Executive Programs. The SGO sponsors both social and academic activities and provides advisory and financial support.
