Philadelphia, PA

The economic cost analysis commissioned by the Sodexho Foundation in partnership with the Public Welfare Foundation and Spunk, Inc. revealed the staggering costs of hunger to every American.

With the annual cost of the direct and indirect costs of hunger hovering around $90 billion, it is imperative as anti-hunger advocates and policy-makers to continue to look for preventive measures to stop the most preventable epidemic in this country.

Cost of Hunger Report
Cost of Hunger Report by Sodexho

This seminal report argues that hunger is not intentional and is a result of many external factors like poverty, violence, and housing and medical issues.  The authors argue that the economic burden and costs associated with hunger can be eliminated with an additional $10-12 million annually allocated over current spending on hunger programs.
