Philadelphia, PA
The Senate voted 79 - 14 to approve a $286 billion Farm Bill package on December 14th. The Senate version of the bill while similar to the House version, passed in July, will still need to be reconciled when Congress returns in January.
The Senate version approved funding that would increase the household food stamp asset limit - strengthening the Food Stamp Program for the 1 in 12 Americans that receive food stamps (1). However, the Bush Administration has threatened to veto the bill.
