We are offering this intensive Global Health Boot Camp to provide an essential global health “tool kit” to Drexel University students traveling abroad working in global health during the summer term.  The training will include cross-cultural training, an overview of safety and logistical issues, and will also be aligned with a global health competency framework emphasizing skill development in:

  • Capacity Strengthening
  • Collaborating and Partnering
  • Ethical Reasoning and Professional Practice
  • Health Equity and Social Justice
  • Program Management
  • Socio-cultural and Political Awareness
  • Strategic Analysis

Students will finish the Boot Camp with a community of students, faculty, and practitioners from around the world to bolster their mentorship circle and provide additional resources for their experiences abroad.

The event will focus on:

  • Country health profiles
  • Health systems and disease surveillance
  • Country programs (including EPI, IMCI, PMTCT, malaria, WASH, and HIV/AIDS)
  • Global health ethics and collaboration and partnership (such as role of NGOs, agencies, students)
  • Group dynamics, team-building, and safety and security in the field (case-studies)
