06/14/2012

The School of Public Health hosted its annual “Students of Today, Public Health Leaders of Tomorrow” research poster presentations and awards ceremony for its graduating, full-time MPH students on Monday, June 11, 2012.  More than 100 students presented their community research during the poster presentations, while 40 students, alumni, faculty and friends were honored at the following awards ceremony. The annual event honors graduating students and faculty for their academic achievements and service to the School of Public Health and local community.

The ceremony featured presentations from the 2nd year students highlighting their Community-Based Master Projects (CBMP), which is an academic requirement for fulltime students in the Master's of Public Health degree program. The CBMP comprises the culminating experience for the students, who partner with a community-oriented, health-related agency, working as an integral part of the organization during their entire second-year at the school.

The ceremony also honored students and faculty members who were inducted into the school’s Delta Omega honor society, which recognizes outstanding academic performance by students and significant contributions to teaching and research by faculty members in the school of public health.

The end-of-year festivities at the School of Public Health also included a poster presentation ceremony for all first-year MPH students on June 12, 2012.

We congratulate all of this year's award winners, and recognize the significant contributions of all the students in making an immediate and meaningful impact on the health of many communities and populations in our society.
