Dr. Dennis Andrulis, the Associate Dean for Research, and Director of the Center for Health Equality at the School of Public Health, recently partnered with The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies Health Policy Institute Health Management Associates to analyze the major health care reform legislation by assessing its implications for racial and ethnic minorities.
The organizations held a health care briefing at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, on Thursday, September 17, 2009 to announce their analysis and findings. Dr. Andrulis presented his research recommendations on how each legislation can be improved to better enhance health care for diverse communities throughout the U.S. His findings were published in reports about the U.S. Senate bill analysis, U.S. House bill analysis and a recommendations publication.

The Joint Center and School of Public Health also worked with Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Center for Health Disparities Solutions to weigh the economic benefits of addressing health disparities against the cost of programs to reduce them.
