The SPH welcomes the Class of 2011 and returning students to the fall term. The new class enters as one of the largest, strongest and most diverse classes in the history of the School of Public Health.

Despite the turbulent economic times, enrollment in the fulltime Master’s of Public Health (MPH) degree program is up more than 20 percent from last year. GRE and MCAT scores also increased for this class.
The class is also representative of today’s global and local community. The class is 46 percent minority, 64 percent female and students are traveling to the School of Public Health from more than 24 states and five countries across the globe.
The school is on track to have the largest number of students in all masters and doctoral programs in our history despite the challenges associated with seating a fulltime MPH program in the current financial climate.

Orientation for the Class of 2011 was held today, and nearly 100 students entered the MPH program, and approximately 50 students entered the school’s Executive MPH program in August. The school also maintained its enrollment in the MS in Biostatistics program and doctoral degree programs. All fulltime students return and classes for the fulltime MPH program begin on Monday.
The School of Public Health has seen exponential growth in its number of students, faculty and research grants in recent years. Accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health, the School of Public Health is the only fully accredited school of public health in the Philadelphia region, and one of two in Pennsylvania.
As a school and not a program, the School of Public Health offers students the opportunity to receive a MPH degree in public health with a concentration in the one of the core areas of public health, including community health and prevention, epidemiology and biostatistics, environmental and occupational health and health management and policy.

Many of the faculty at the School of Public Health received their education from Ivy League institutions or other top schools of public health from across the country. The faculty have a wide variety of research interests, and one of the hallmarks of an education at the Drexel University School of Public Health is the significant opportunities for students to gain real-world experience practicing public health while earning their degree.
Again, welcome all returning and new students.
