CPHRC Receives NATO Award for Overseas Institute

Assoc. Professor Peter Rumm, MD, MPH, FACPM, Director of the Center for Public Health Readiness and Communication at the School of Public Health, recently received a 55,000 Euro Award from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Diplomacy Division to hold an Advanced Study Institute (ASI) in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, on June 2006. “The ASI’s are high-level tutorial courses of two weeks' duration where a subject is treated in depth by lecturers of international standing.” Dr. Rumm’s ASI will be titled, “Strengthening National Public Health Preparedness and Response for Chemical, Biological and Radiological Agents Threats.” Please visit the NATO site calendar for more information. Andrulis, PhD, MPH, Associate Dean for Research in Public Health and Director of the Center for Health Equality, was cited by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for his report, Hospital Care in the 100 Largest Cities and Their Suburbs, 1996-2002: Implications for the Future of the Hospital Safety Net in Metropolitan Areas. The report, which the RWJF listed as one of its top-funded publications for 2005, is available online (687 KB PDF).
