Drexel Helps Prepare Lancaster County Health ReportFaculty and staff from the Center for Health Equality at the Drexel University School of Public Health joined with the Director of Community Health, Alice Yoder, RN, MSN, from Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA, to compile the 2006 Lancaster County Health Data Report.
The report is a collection of statistical data obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Vital Statistics and Behavioral Risk Factor Survey. The annual report includes data on the incidence of various diseases, health trends and reported injuries across Lancaster County, and compares the county data with Pennsylvania levels and the federal government’s Healthy People 2010 goals. The report was developed to increase awareness of the health of Lancaster County, provoke discussion of issues and assist with community needs identification. Yoder led the development of the report at Lancaster General Hospital.
The data for the county health report was compiled by Nicole A. Vaughn, PhD, an assistant professor and senior health policy and research analyst, Eve Nora Litt, an administrative coordinator, from the Drexel University School of Public Health, and Jenna Gantner, a graduate student at the Drexel University College of Medicine.
The VP of Operations at Health Research and Education Trust, a part of the American Hospital Association, has cited this report as a "great example of how a hospital is reaching out and making useful information available in an understandable format to its community."
