The Drexel School of Public Health announced that it was exploring the feasibility of creating a countywide health department in Berks County, PA. The research is being funded primarily by a grant from the Berks County Community Foundation.
According to Dennis Gallagher, MA, MPA, an associate professor and the director of health policy at the School of Public Health, the study will be the fourth of its kind that the School of Public Health has undertaken since 2004. The long range goal of these studies is to create a viable network of local public health infrastructure in Pennsylvania.
The research is being done by faculty at the School of Public Health’s Department of Health Management and Policy, which will provide a final report to the Foundation and a public presentation of its findings during the fall term 2007.
