SPH Faculty Participate in Annual Congressional Black Caucus ConferenceMariana Chilton, PhD, MPH and John A. Rich, MD, MPH, professors at the School of Public Health, are participating in this year’s Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. from September 26 – 29, 2007. On Thursday, September 27, 2007 Dr. Rich facilitated the issues forum "War & Peace: Examining the Culture of Violence through a Non-Violent Lens." The panel discussion reflected on the non-violent movements of the past, and how lessons learned from the past can be applied to the present. The following Friday, September 28, Dr. Chilton participated in a separate issue forum titled "Transform Our Children: From Poverty to Prosperity." Dr. Chilton discussed food insecurity as a significant public health issue that continues to impact millions of families nationwide and how nutritional policy impacts early childhood development.
