SPH Names New Director of Development

Colleen Jansen, PhD, was named the new Director of Development at the School of Public Health in September 2007. Jansen brings nearly 13 years of development and fundraising experience to the school.

Jansen joins the School of Public Health from the University of Massachusetts, where she served since 2005 as the Director of Patient (Giving) Programs and then as the Director of Development for the College of Engineering. Previously, she served as the Director of Major Gifts for Polytechnic University from 2000 to 2005 and was the principal gift officer for a global alumni base of 35,000. Jansen was also a Regional Development Officer at the State University of New York at Buffalo from 1994 to 2000. While at the state school, she helped organize the university’s first comprehensive $250 million campaign.

Originally from South Africa, Jansen received a Fulbright Scholarship in 1986 and studied law at the University of Capetown. She received her Master of Education degree in Comparative Education and a PhD in Comparative and Global Studies in Education from SUNY Buffalo.
