Deputy Commissioner Henry J. Costo is a thirty-six year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department.
He has served as the Department's Safety Officer for seven years. Chief Costo also serves as the chairman of the Safety Committee for Local 22 of the International Association of Firefighters. He has had numerous articles published and is a member of the editorial board of Fire Rescue magazine. Chief Costo presently serves as the "Metro Advocate Coordinator" for the Everyone Goes Home program of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. He possesses a degree in fire science and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.
