Dr. Curtis E. Cummings , Interim CPHRC Director, presented "Assessing Regional Preparedness: the Capacity, Capabilities and Coordination Assessment Tool (C3AT)" at the American Public Health Association's 134th Annual Meeting in Boston, MA, on November 4-8, 2006. The Capacity, Capabilities and Coordination Assessment Tool (C3AT) was developed to evaluate preparedness for natural and man-made disasters at the regional level. The need for a regional response to disasters was recognized by the Regional Health Administrators of DHHS Regions III and X, and underscored by recent events involving Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
