National Public Health Week: April 2- 8 2007

During National Public Health Week, APHA will continue to work with its affiliates and partner organizations to prepare the community to "Take the First Step" in preparing themselves and their communities for public health threats and emergencies. The specific focus will be identifying the barriers to preparedness facing vulnerable populations and in doing so, provide them with resources needed to develop a plan that is right for them. The five core audiences are: 1) mother's with children living at home; 2) local food banks; 3) hourly workers and employees; 4) schools serving children kindergarten thru the 12th grade; 5) individuals with chronic health care needs (diabetes, asthma, cancer and high blood pressure).
