Drexel Welcomes Public Health Professionals to Philadelphia for Annual Conference

Philadelphia and Drexel University play host to the American Public Health Association's 137th annual conference this week. Faculty members from the SPH will have a major presence at the conference, including Dr. Stephen Lankenau, who will discuss the use, abuse and safety of medications.  Other topics include violence, cancer education, emergency preparedness, autism, health reforms and more. (Photo Credit: B. Dr. John Rich Named to Institute of Medicine

Dr. John Rich, a professor and chair of the Department of Health Management and Policy at the Drexel University School of Public Health, was named this week to the Institute of Medicine (IOM). Election to the IOM is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.

APHA Conference 2009 Returns to Philadelphia

The American Public Health Association will hold its annual conference back in Philadelphia this November, and the School of Public Health is happy to serve as its host school once again. Faculty members from the SPH will present research and lead discussions throughout the conference, and the school will have a major presence at the conference and across the city.

Dr. Dennis Andrulis, Associate Dean for Research, and Director of the Center for Health Equality at the School of Public Health, recently partnered with The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies Health Policy Institute and Health Management Associates to analyze major health care reform legislation by assessing its implications for racial and ethnic minorities.
